Position Summary:

The Human Resources Intern will support the HR and Onboarding teams with administrative and compliance-related tasks, with a primary focus on assisting with I-9 employment eligibility verifications. This role is ideal for someone beginning their HR career who has minimal HR experience but is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in learning the broader scope of HR operations. The intern will work onsite at Cooperstown All-Star Village to help ensure accurate documentation, support new hire onboarding processes, and provide general administrative support to the HR team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with I-9 employment eligibility verification, including reviewing documents and ensuring forms are completed accurately and in compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Support the onboarding team by preparing new hire paperwork and onboarding materials.
  • Help ensure all onboarding materials are completed prior to employees starting.
  • Maintain accurate and organized HR records and employee files (physical and electronic).
  • Assist with data entry into HR systems and tracking onboarding progress.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team as needed, as well as assisting the Payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information.
  • Support other HR projects and tasks as assigned including but, not limited to, job postings.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Minimal HR experience required; willingness to learn HR processes and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Oneonta, NY and interact with new hires and team members professionally.

Preferred Skills:

  • Interest in Human Resources or talent operations.
  • Basic understanding of administrative processes or I-9 documentation review & verification.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Exposure to HR compliance processes, including I-9 verification requirements.
