About the Palmetto State Baseball League
Launching in the summer of 2026, the Palmetto State Baseball League is the latest addition to The Players League's growing network of collegiate summer baseball leagues. The league will offer a competitive, development-focused environment rooted in the values of integrity, professionalism, and community engagement. Teams will be independently owned and operated, with support from TPL’s infrastructure to ensure high-quality player experiences on and off the field.
Position Overview
We are seeking a personable, organized, and baseball-savvy Commissioner to lead the Palmetto State Baseball League in its inaugural season. As Commissioner, you’ll oversee league operations, scheduling, communication, and enforcement of league policies—acting as the bridge between The Players League leadership and each team.
This is a part-time role with light time requirements in the off-season and increased involvement during the summer season.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the main point of contact for all team representatives (owners, GMs, coaches)
- Ensure compliance with league rules and by-laws
- Assist teams with roster support and player placement
Operations & Events
- Contribute to the development and finalization of the season schedule
- Attend and represent the league at both the All-Star Game and the Championship Game
Communication & Meetings
- Lead two annual league-wide meetings:
- One in-person pre-season meeting
- One virtual post-season meeting
- Maintain regular communication with teams and provide updates to TPL leadership
- Help resolve inter-team disputes in a fair and diplomatic manner
Time Commitment
- Off-Season (Sept–April): ~2–3 hours/week (flexible and remote)
- In-Season (May–August): ~8–10 hours/week, with spikes during major events
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong communicator and confident public speaker
- Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to mediate and build consensus
- Flexible summer schedule with reliable off-season availability
- Prior experience in baseball operations, coaching, or league administration is a plus
- Passion for athlete development and upholding league integrity
Compensation
- Part-time, paid position (rate based on experience)
- Travel expenses for required events will be covered
