Position Overview:
The Public & Media Relations Intern will support the Wind Surge Marketing & Public Relations team throughout the season. The position will include both game day and non-game day event duties. The ideal candidate is a strong, energetic communicator with the ability to work in a team environment, have an eagerness to learn, and possess the flexibility to adapt to what each day brings with a positive attitude.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help with media relations efforts, including compiling press materials, media lists, and assisting with press releases and game notes
- Support the team’s social media efforts by capturing content and coordinating real-time game coverage
- Assist in organizing and conducting interviews with players, coaches, and staff for media and content purposes
- Help manage the team’s website and digital platforms by ensuring timely and accurate updates
- Gain hands-on experience with media equipment, broadcast software, and media operations in a professional sports environment
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate a plus
- Journalism experience
- Knowledge of baseball a plus
- Proficient in video/photo production techniques utilizing the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier)
- Photography and videography experience
- Knowledge and skill in social
- Strong time management, communication, and organization skills
- Ability to supply excellent customer service to all clients and fans
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented and comfortable with sales
- Familiarity with a ticketing system preferred
- Problem solving and conflict management skills
- Positive attitude
