DISCLAIMER – This is a 1099-NEC position—the contractor is not an employee and will be responsible for any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes or costs associated with the services and any fees paid for such services.
SUMMARY:
Contractor will be responsible for performing field reporting responsibilities to live Rangers game broadcasts, including pre-game and post-game shows, for a minimum of 15 games during the Rangers’ 2026 season. The ideal contractor will be well-versed in the game of baseball, an independent self-starter, and capable of enterprising stories gathered through conversation with players, members of the coaching staff, and front office representatives. Contractor should be an established professional who is able to perform his/her services alongside the broadcast crew and members of various Club departments and collaborate with them when necessary.
ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO BE DELIVERED INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
- Serve in the role of back-up field reporter for the Texas Rangers before, during, and after
live baseball games occurring on various weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Attend all press conferences and media sessions associated with their dates wherein they’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, and thereafter, craft pre, in-game, and post-game stories based on information gathered.
- Develop and use professional relationships with on-field and Front Office personnel to understand and deliver engaging content that informs fans and viewers of the storylines of the day.
- Connect with the Coordinating Producer and/or Game Producer as well as Public Relations, as needed, to support all shows.
- Consider relevant support materials needed to highlight stories – photos, video packages, etc. –
and request to producers in a timely manner.
- Available to travel as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF CONTRACTOR:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a live on-air role, particularly covering professional or affiliated baseball.
- A professional appearance and demeanor, as well as a team-first attitude.
- Strong verbal and written skills as well as the ability to both prepare and ad-lib compelling stories reacting to on-field events.
- A demonstrated ability to freely converse using terms understood to relate to on-field action in a baseball game.
