The Texas Rangers are seeking a Biomechanist to join the Performance group in Player Development. The role will focus on tasks related to Biomechanics,  including data collection, reduction, and analysis of motion capture biomechanical data. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate with current staff regarding biomechanical information with the goal of integrating research and findings into other areas of Baseball Operations for the purpose of enhancing player performance and evaluation.

  • Collaborate with Analytics, Sport Science, and Player Development to integrate kinematic and kinetic analyses to enhance Performance initiatives throughout the organization for improving on-field movement.
  • Assist with biomechanical data collection, reduction, and analysis in the organization.
  • Develop models based on biomechanical data for player evaluation and injury risk assessment through research and scientific process.
  • Participate in the creation of new laboratory tools, methods, and procedures that will streamline data acquisition and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exploration of new Sport Science technologies that may provide novel, impactful value to the organization.

  • Graduate level degree required in Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology. or related fields. General knowledge about baseball related movements is beneficial.
  • Expertise in various software packages including SQL, R, Visual3D, Python, MATLAB and/or LabVIEW is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills and experience with biomechanical equipment and data management along with proficiency in collecting data on human subjects. Included but not limited to: markered and/or markerless motion capture, force plates, inertial sensors, musculoskeletal modeling, camera tracking/AI, and EMG.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail while effectively disseminating information.
  • Trustworthiness and ability to maintain the confidentiality of work materials/processes.
  • Must be available full-time and willing to work long hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays while relocating to Surprise, AZ.
