We are seeking a DevOps Support Intern to join our Research and Development department. This role is ideal for someone interested in the intersection of platform support and system reliability.

The intern will help ensure smooth day-to-day operations of analytics infrastructure, respond to system issues, and assist in automating routine tasks. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting production pipelines and advanced analytics that are critical to player evaluation and organizational decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Platform support, including monitoring analytics infrastructure and responding to system alerts or failures
  • Support improving internal scripts and tools that support pipeline operations
  • Contribute to automation of recurring maintenance or support tasks
  • Assist in managing resource usage and job scheduling on our compute platform

Qualifications
  • A solid foundation in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or related fields
  • Proficiency in R, SQL, and Linux
  • Basic knowledge of cloud native technologies
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL processes, and API integrations

PREFERRED
  • Experience working with baseball or sports data (e.g., Statcast, Hawk-Eye, TrackMan).
  • Experience performing data analysis in the workforce, or relevant academic research
  • Experience with Kubernetes and/or other related cloud native technologies

Candidates with non-traditional schooling backgrounds, as well as candidates with an Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field are encouraged to apply.

*Exact start and end date is flexible and can be discussed further to see if adjustments can be made. This is an on-site internship based at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL.
