Job Overview
The Bat Person is primarily responsible for on-field gear collection, umpire assistance, dugout service (in-game), and off-field clubhouse duties. In addition to gear collection, the bat person assists the clubhouse manager with players’ personal items, pre-game dugout setup, and post-game dugout breakdown. This is a part-time, seasonal, game day position.
Coverage Area and Duties
Clubhouse and Dugout performing the following duties:
- Assist with players and coaches’ uniform care, shoes/cleats, personal items, and towels.
- Set-up and breakdown of pre-game and post-game meals for players and coaches.
- Trash runs, vacuuming.
- Set up and organize the dugout before game time; bringing equipment, batting helmets, and other supplies from the clubhouse to the dugout.
- Fill coolers/water jugs.
- Grab a bucket for discarded baseballs from umpires.
- Retrieve bats, balls, and other equipment from the playing field during games.
- Provide umpires with game balls when requested.
- Breakdown the dugout, and store all equipment used during the game
- Bring emptied coolers to Clubhouse (Any liquid will be dumped down the drain in the dugout).
- Sweep dugouts thoroughly.
- Collect garbage post-game and dispose of garbage bags where the grounds crew instructs.
- Bring any items forgotten post-game to the Clubhouse manager to return to staff/players.
- All other duties as assigned.
