The Organization
The RiverDogs are nationally recognized as one of the top organizations in professional sports, gaining notoriety for unique promotions, outrageous food and beverage items, and excellent customer service. The RiverDogs strive to provide a diverse fanbase with a memorable and highly entertaining experience at each of its 66 home games and many other events at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in downtown Charleston.

The RiverDogs offer several full-time internships, which start in mid-March and go through the end of August. These are unpaid positions, which can be completed for college credit. These internships are designed to provide interns with insight into the entire scope of a minor league baseball operation.

This position will work closely with the VP of Food & Beverage until a Director is hired on contacting all clients that have reserved picnic/catered outings to get final group numbers and to offer some premium upgrades that we offer.  This position will also learn how to manage 8 luxury suites with a 3rd party food vendor, multiple servers, and food runners during game day operations.  Below is a list of learning opportunities this internship will offer but not limited to.

Primary Duties:
  • Learn how our picnics are priced and sold
  • Help confirm and offer up grades to a guest catered area
  • Learn setup, staffing, and execution of caterings for 50-3,000 person groups
  • Learn how suites are sold & communicated with preorders to RiverDogs & 3rd party vendor
  • Help create an acceptable guest experience
  • Learn how to manage staff, problem solve, operate POS systems, and scheduling for a sports venue
  • Coordinate with sales team and clients for suite and picnic catering 
  • Oversee front of house in club on gamedays and set-up
  • Other task assigned by supervisor
