Job Summary
Members of the Promotions Team serve as the high-energy ambassadors for both the Sacramento River Cats and the Athletics at Sutter Health Park. As part of either The Cat Crew or The Herd, you will engage with fans of all ages, elevate the in-game entertainment experience, support promotional activities, and represent our organization at community events.
Promotions Team members bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and personality to every appearance—both inside and outside the ballpark—ensuring that each interaction reflects the fun, welcoming, and memorable environment our teams are known for.
Tryout Requirement
All applicants must be available to attend an in-person tryout on Saturday, January 24. Time TBD.
Key Responsibilities:
The Herd – Athletics Entertainment Team
Execute in-game entertainment and promotions, including on-field contests, t-shirt tosses, prize giveaways, trivia, and crowd prompts.
Create energetic, engaging fan interactions and congratulate or assist promotion participants.
Support rehearsed segments, simple choreographed moments, and other entertainment elements.
Serve as handler for Stomper and assist The Big Heads, ensuring safe movement and smooth fan interactions/photos.
Maintain high energy throughout the ballpark, especially during key moments.
Promote upcoming A’s games, theme nights, and special events.
Represent the Athletics with professionalism at community appearances.
Attend required training sessions and perform additional duties as assigned.
Cat Crew – River Cats Promotions Team
Game Day Promotions
Greet and interact with fans with a positive, welcoming, and energetic attitude.
Execute assigned elements of the game script, including contestant selection for promotions.
Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown of promotional activities.
Support theme nights, including dressing and performing as characters when needed.
Serve as mascot handler and support timelines, safety, and fan interactions/photos.
Maintain organization of promotional materials and storage areas.
Complete additional assigned duties as needed.
Community Events
Represent the River Cats and partners professionally with enthusiasm and pride.
Load in, set up, and break down event footprints.
Ensure proper handling and safety of event equipment.
Execute enter-to-win raffles and assist with marketing/ticketing initiatives.
Promote upcoming River Cats games, programs, and community events.
Qualifications
Outgoing, energetic personality with strong fan-engagement skills.
Comfortable interacting with large crowds; entertainment, hosting, cheer, dance, or public-speaking experience a plus.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season.
Reliable, professional, and team-oriented with strong communication skills.
Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and quickly learn cues or simple routines.
Skilled at multitasking and problem-solving under pressure.
Reliable transportation required (Cat Crew).
Prior experience engaging large crowds (up to 14,000+) preferred.
Physical Demands
Ability to perform light physical activity such as jogging, energetic movement, and repetitive motions.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to walk up and down stairs and navigate uneven surfaces.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Compensation:
This position is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt role with an expected pay of $16.90/hr.
