Job Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides critical, front-line medical care for patients in emergency situations at Sutter Health Park. Working as part of a team, EMTs respond to radio calls, assess patient conditions, administer basic life support, and partner with AMR when transport is necessary. This role demands quick thinking, technical proficiency, and a strong commitment to patient well-being.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency calls and requests for medical assistance.
  • Perform patient assessments, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Administer basic emergency medical care such as CPR, bleeding control, splinting, and oxygen therapy.
  • Safely transport patients to appropriate medical facilities while monitoring their condition.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and incident details.
  • Ensure equipment and emergency vehicles are clean, stocked, and operational.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures for infection control and safety.

 

Required Certifications

  • State-issued EMT certification (EMT-Basic or higher, depending on jurisdiction).
  • Current CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Additional certifications such as Advanced First Aid or PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) may be preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry patients and equipment, often under challenging circumstances.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to remain focused and effective in stressful and emotionally charged situations.

 

Compensation

This position is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt role with an expected pay of $16.90/hr.
