The Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing all internal and external communications for the Sacramento River Cats. This includes a focus on baseball information, media relations and press operations as the primary point of contact for all local and national media, as well as the creation and distribution of all written communications. This individual will also manage the Sutter Health Park Press Box and its employees. This role plays a key part in the club’s overarching storytelling efforts, including messaging alignment, coordination, and the distribution of content.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage official scorers, statistics stringers, and pitch clock personnel with gameday tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and professional communication across all platforms while helping elevate the organization’s visibility within Sacramento and the greater professional baseball landscape
  • Prepare all game day media information including game notes, stat packs, rosters, transaction reports, and postgame notes
  • Provide key stat lines and other relevant information to in-game broadcaster to elevate the show
  • Act as liaison between field staff and Official Scorer
  • Coordinate various player appearances and media requests for interviews
  • Prepare annual media guide and maintain team and franchise historical records
  • Responsible for creating compelling feature content to highlight the team and overall organization
  • Write and distribute press releases and pitch media
  • Track and provide monthly reports of all media impressions using various online tools
  • Manage Sutter Health Park press box before, during and after games. Lead credentialing for media and staff.
  • Assist with social media coverage during games as needed.
  • Assist the Baseball Operations Manager as needed.

 

Qualifications:

•       Knowledge and experience with the sport of baseball required.

•       Bachelor's Degree in sports management, public relations, communications, or related field.

•       Minimum of two years of public relations/media relations experience; experience working for a sports team or league preferred.

•       Able to multi-task under time constraints, meet deadlines and work within a fast-paced industry/environment; must be very detail-oriented.

•       Proven ability to proactively pitch stories and develop storylines

•       Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

•       Minimal design experience to edit photos and create digital graphics preferred.

•       Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

•       Attention to detail.

•       Good working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft 365, website platform, social media platforms and Creative Cloud (e.g. In-Design, Photoshop, etc.).

•       Ability and willingness to work varied and long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.

 

Compensation:

This position is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt role with an expected pay range of $18/hr - $20/hr.  Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the compensation range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the final offer. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
