Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Filling water coolers for dugouts and bullpens before game.
  • Stocking dugouts and bullpens with daily supplies.
  • Carrying equipment such as bats, balls, helmets, and any other gear necessary, between the clubhouse and dugouts.
  • Keeping dugouts and on-deck circles organized throughout the game.
  • Retrieving foul balls that remain on the field during the game and bring balls to umpires.
  • Being aware of the game and paying close attention to umpire needs during the games.
  • Assisting with pre- and post-game clubhouse duties, including preparing baseballs, cleaning shoes, laundry, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in and around a locker room setting, always maintaining professional etiquette and behavior around players, media, coaches, and other team staff.
  • Must be able to follow directions, work efficiently as an individual and part of a team, and complete assignments in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and positively amongst the team and with leadership.
  • Knowledge of the game of baseball is preferred but not required.

Education and Experience:

  • On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions.

Scheduling:

This role is responsible for ensuring players, coaches, umpires, and team staff always have necessary equipment ready before and during games. After games, the staff will clean and reset for the following day. Between homestands, the staff will pack/unpack equipment for the River Cats as well as visiting teams.

  • Shifts typically begin 1-2 hours before a game.
  • Shifts typically end 1-3 hours after a game.
  • End times cannot be guaranteed as they are dependent on the length of game.
  • Transition days may be longer than average to unpack/pack team gear.
  • Shifts may be scheduled between homestands to assist with clubhouse maintenance/cleaning.

Compensation:

This position is a part-time seasonal, non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $16.00 per hour. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided.
