Overview:
The Director of Baseball Operations is responsible for driving revenue through all lines of programming including weekend, summer and spring training tournaments, camps, clinics and a variety of specialty programs. Assist the General Manager with administrative duties from point of sale, to planning and executing all lines of programming.
Responsibilities:
- Fully embrace Service Excellence initiative by demonstrating “customer-first” actions for all internal and external customers and accepting responsibility and accountability for demonstrating empowerment decisions and actions during daily work.
- Oversee operations team including full-time staff, seasonal employees and interns.
- Assist in all programming sales and prospecting while working closely with sales and marketing staff.
- Maintain detailed reports including field usage, state breakdown, and sales dashboard.
- Production and maintenance of game schedules, programming calendars and budgets.
- Assist General Manager with selection and evaluation of the facility umpire assignor.
- Is main point of contact between the umpire assignor and The Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge.
- Oversee and execute baseball operations functions including scheduling, camps, and facility maintenance at The Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge.
- Assist General Manager in determining operations inventory quantities such as baseballs, awards, gifts.
- Maintain and develop relationships in the local community, assisting with implementation of local and national partnerships.
- Maintenance of backend registration system including programming calendar, tournament details, fulfillment materials, tournament scores and related content.
- Serve as on-site tournament director for both baseball and softball tournaments and spring training programming.
- Work closely with all areas of facility operations as needed including maintenance, food and beverage, retail, finance, sponsorship fulfillment and administration.
- Promote a synergistic relationship with team members in all department and divisions.
- Ensure professional development to enhance work knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, standards, guidelines, expectations and requirements. Adhere to Company ethical requirements, demonstrating the utmost integrity in all professional and personal matters.
- Observe and enforce proper safety procedures.
- Ensure completion of work responsibilities and special projects in accordance with the designated timeframe, as determined by the reporting leader.
- Provide reporting leader with feedback, ideas and suggestions on a timely basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Marketing, or related field
- 3-5 years experience in event management, tournament operations or similar career
- Working knowledge of the game of baseball and softball and tournament/camp operations
- First Aid certification and AED certification
- Sales experience
- Excellent communication skills

- Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)

- Willingness to work long hours, nights, holidays and weekends as needed
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Sport Management, or related field
- Customer service experience
- Prior tournament and/or camp operations experience
- Work history which involves creativity in a high volume, baseball tournament or camp setting
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, stressful environment
- Excellent time management skills
Working Conditions / Special Physical Requirements:
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Routinely exposed to extreme hot/cold weather conditions
- Required to work flexible schedule based on the needs of the business
