Overview
As an impactful Intern and asset to the team, you will be responsible for assisting with all phases of Tournament, Camp and Event Operations at The Ripken Experience in Aberdeen, MD. This internship will begin in May and conclude at the end of August. We will be happy to work with your school to assist you in securing any required college credits for your successful completion of the program.
As a Summer Operations Intern, you will:
· Assist with planning, preparation and execution of all programming at a world-class facility
· Learn 'The Ripken Way' from those who have created and implemented the standards and practices to operate the highest quality baseball camps, tournaments, and clinics in the nation
· Join a multi-week national youth baseball tour, teaching children ages 5-13 the fundamentals of baseball and The Ripken Way
· Create a fun, dynamic atmosphere for event participants, developing camaraderie and acting as a positive role model
· Operate sport-specific instructional stations including hitting, pitching, and fielding
· Gain knowledge and skills in management and coaching while also working independently to assist with facility operations
· Aid in setting up and breaking down sports equipment at the start or end of each day as needed
· Assist partner brand and agency representatives in setting up and breaking down event production equipment and other promotional items
· Serve as a Tournament Official – PA Announcing games, serving as a rules consultant, and providing customer service to our guests at designated fields
· Serve as a Team Ambassador – Concierge and Team Reporter for our Week-Long Experience teams
· Assist in facility maintenance and facility upkeep at a world-class complex
· Maintain a high level of professionalism while providing extraordinary customer service
· Absorb training and demonstrate the initiative, desire, and drive to help uphold the values established by the Ripken name and brand
· Communicate with coaches and parents to provide an elevated experience for young athletes
· Work with staff to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently while providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for participants
· Be considered for other Ripken Baseball opportunities at the conclusion of the internship, based on performance
Required Experience And Skills
Qualifications:
This is the perfect summer internship program for college students who have an interest in sports administration and operations, working for a reputable sports-focused company.
Requirements:
· Prior customer service experience
· Prior experience working with children, demonstrating patience and compassion
· An outgoing, friendly personality with excellent communication skills, strong initiative, and high level of energy
· Ability and willingness to physically perform all aforementioned job responsibilities

· Solid time-management skills
· An interest in sports or the sports industry
· Work schedule will vary, nights and weekends will be required
Preferred Experience:
- Prior coaching or leadership experience
- Childcare, safety, and/or CPR training
- Previous experience managing a small group of peers
· A passion for sports, working towards a college degree
· Collegiate baseball or softball experience with strong understanding of the game’s fundamentals; interested in coaching
