About the Terre Haute REX
The Terre Haute REX is a collegiate summer wood-bat team competing in the Prospect League. Since our founding in 2010, the REX have won two Prospect League Championships (2015 & 2018) and have built a reputation for developing both players and front office staff for the next level. Former interns have gone on to work in MLB, MiLB, NFL, NBA, and other professional sports organizations.

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Baseball Operations Data Analytics Intern to assist our front office and coaching staff in utilizing TrackMan and advanced analytics to enhance player development and game strategy.

Position Overview
The Baseball Operations Data Analytics Intern will work directly with the General Manager, coaching staff, and Baseball Operations department to collect, analyze, and interpret TrackMan data. This role is ideal for students interested in careers in baseball operations, player development, scouting, or sports analytics.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work inside a competitive summer collegiate baseball environment and gain real-world experience in applied baseball analytics.

  • Player development tracking
  • Scouting analytics
  • Communicating analytics to coaches and players
  • Working in a fast-paced, professional baseball operations environment

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled college student (Sport Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field preferred)
  • Strong interest in baseball analytics and player development
  • Working knowledge of baseball statistics (traditional and advanced metrics)
  • Experience with Excel required (Pivot Tables, formulas, data organization)
  • Familiarity with R, Python, or other data tools preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of player data
  • Must be available for most home games and occasional office hours

Schedule Commitment
  • Internship dates: May 27 – August 10
  • Regular home season: May 30 – July 31
  • Availability for potential playoff games in early August
  • Evening and weekend availability required

What Makes This Internship Valuable
This is not a “sit in the office” internship. You will:
  • Work directly with coaches and decision-makers
  • Contribute to real baseball strategy discussions
  • Gain hands-on experience with TrackMan analytics
  • Build a portfolio of analytical reports
  • Strengthen your resume for MLB, MiLB, and collegiate baseball opportunities

If you’re the kind of person who watches a game and thinks about spin efficiency and attack angle instead of just the score… this internship is for you. ⚾📊
