Position Overview
The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, a premier summer collegiate baseball team competing in the Prospect League, are seeking a passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable Field Manager to lead our on-field operations for the 2026 season. The ideal candidate has a strong baseball background, is highly organized, and can manage and motivate collegiate athletes while maintaining a positive, professional culture.
This is a seasonal, full-time position during the summer baseball season (May–August), with some part-time responsibilities prior to the season related to recruiting, planning, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Player Development
    • Manage all aspects of the on-field team, including game strategy, player development, and in-game decisions. 
  • Create a culture of professionalism, respect, hustle, and fun. 
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for college athletes aiming to grow on and off the field.
  • Game Day Management
    • Oversee game preparation, including lineup creation, practice scheduling, and pregame routines. 
  • Coordinate with coaching staff on pitching rotations, player usage, and rest schedules. 
  • Represent the team with professionalism in all interactions with umpires, opponents, fans, and media.
  • Recruiting & Roster Management
    • Work with the General Manager to recruit top collegiate talent in coordination with NCAA guidelines. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with college coaches across the country. 
  • Monitor player performance and make roster decisions as needed.
  • Administrative & Team Coordination
    • Assist in planning team travel, meals, housing, and scheduling needs. 
  • Ensure players adhere to team policies and code of conduct. 
  • Provide feedback and evaluations of players and staff throughout and after the season.
Qualifications
  • Prior coaching or managing experience at the college, summer collegiate, or professional level strongly preferred.
  • Strong baseball knowledge and understanding of in-game strategy, player development, and team management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work a demanding summer schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and summer collegiate league operations.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
Compensation
  • Competitive seasonal stipend based on experience.
  • Housing and select travel expenses covered.
  • Team gear and meals on game days provided.

Qualifications:
Previous NCAA, NAIA, or NJCAA Coaching experience preferred
