Summary
The Normal CornBelters (NCB), a summer wood-bat collegiate baseball team, are members of the Prospect League.  The CornBelters are owned and operated by Play9 Sports, a sports management group.  Play9 Sports also operates the Kernels Collegiate League (KCL), a wood-bat collegiate league, which plays a 30-game league solely at the Corn Crib in Normal.  The Normal CornBelters, Kernels Collegiate League, and the Corn Crib are looking for Baseball Analytics Interns to join their team for the upcoming 2026 season.

Baseball Analytics Internship Roles
  • Scorekeeping - keeping with effective scorekeeping measures to chart in-game data points for the Normal CornBelters and Kernels Collegiate League
  • Research - pursue open-ended projects to answer relevant hypotheses about player and team performance
  • Reporting - clearly and concisely communicating findings of research with players, coaches, and fans
  • Player Development - ability to use advanced tools to evaluate and improve player performance using Yakkertech, Rapsodo, or Blast Motion technology

Duties and Responsibilities
  •  Collecting relevant data from each game
  •  Reporting on updated league statistical measures
  •  Initiating self-identified exploratory projects
  •  Performing quantitative analysis on collected data
  •  Designing metrics to measure individual and team performance
  •  Communicating findings and conclusions

 Competencies and Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficient in data analysis
  • Familiar with the game of baseball
  • Self-starter who is motivated to build new programs and exceed expectations
  • Able to recognize tasks and complete them in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Night and weekend work required
