Summary
The Normal CornBelters (NCB), a summer wood-bat collegiate baseball team, are members of the Prospect League.  The CornBelters are owned and operated by Play9 Sports, a sports management group.  Play9 Sports also operates the Kernels Collegiate League (KCL), a wood-bat collegiate league, which plays a 30-game league solely at the Corn Crib in Normal.  The Normal CornBelters, Kernels Collegiate League, and the Corn Crib are looking for Sports Management Interns to join their team for the upcoming 2024 season.

2024 Internship Roles
  • Facility Operations - Regular and ongoing turnover of the stadium between scheduled events.
  • Box Office - Provide support within the CornBelters physical and virtual Box Office.
  • Individual and Group Sales - Lead in the presentation and fulfillment of sales opportunities through ticket packages and individual event offerings.
  • Point of Sale Attendant - Completing walkup ticket transactions and providing excellent customer service to fans.
  • Gate Attendant - Fulfilling game tickets and admitting guests to the ballpark.
  • Gameday Promotions - Developing, planning, scripting, and executing all in-game entertainment and team sponsorship requirements.
  • Public Relations & Communications - Work with broadcasting and analytics interns to connect our organization with the local public and media outlets via press releases and feature stories.
  • Digital & Social Media - Assist with the creation, management, and execution of social media and newsletter campaigns. Plan and execute interactive videos and posts with mascot and athletes to connect with fans.
  • Community Relations - Assist with the planning and execution of community programs and events (including set-up and tear-down of display booths), hand out promotional materials, and data collection. Executing all community appearances to include interaction of players and mascot.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify sales opportunities through networking and outreach within the local market
  • Provide reporting information by maintaining and being able to produce on a regular basis accurate reports of sales call volume, closed sales, and account maintenance
  • Oversee execution of the client amenities and services to optimize client experience and satisfaction, maximize sales profitability, and enhance retention efforts
  • Work alongside our marketing department / Director of Marketing on mascot handling and community appearances
  • Lead the creation of new and entertaining content for all in-park promotions/entertainment and not just between innings or on-field
  • Advance the in-game fan experience of the CornBelters organization
  • Assist with the planning and execution of team and community events while serving as a representative of the CornBelters
  • Manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities including content development and management
  • Ensure an effective and professional image to customers and present an accurate portrayal of business strategies across all social media platforms
  • Analyze all digital media sites by collecting data and producing reports
  • Distribute team marketing and sales materials
  • Assist with stadium operations and provide a quality experience for ALL guests at our ballpark
  • Set up and breakdown of the Corn Crib before and after games or events
  • Work with Front Office staff and other game day staff on maintaining ballpark and/or other duties associated with logistics of all home games and Play 9 Sports events
  • Assist in keeping the general cleanliness of the stadium
  • Help with any general maintenance as needed

Competencies and Qualifications
  • Must be available for at least 50% of KCL and CornBelters home games and have the ability to work extended hours including weeknights and weekends
  • Have an enthusiastic, positive attitude and provide a strong effort to succeed
  • Self-starter who is motivated to build new programs and exceed expectations
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills that showcase a positive and enthusiastic approach to customers so as to convey a positive image and respond to clients in a timely manner
  • Able to work outdoors on summer days, including tasks that require physical labor
  • Can succeed in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail while being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
  • Comfortable interacting in front of large crowds
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products

Compensation 
  • This is an unpaid position. Internships are eligible for college credit opportunities.
