Summary
The Normal CornBelters (NCB), a summer wood-bat collegiate baseball team, are members of the Prospect League. The CornBelters are owned and operated by Play9 Sports, a sports management group. Play9 Sports also operates the Kernels Collegiate League (KCL), a wood-bat collegiate league, which plays a 30-game league solely at the Corn Crib in Normal. The Normal CornBelters, Kernels Collegiate League, and the Corn Crib are looking for an Assistant General Manager to join their team beginning with the upcoming 2026 season.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Sponsorships
- Prospecting for and selling sponsorships on behalf of the team
- Grow existing relationships with sponsors, fans, and constituents
- Responsible for the operation of the food and beverage service of the Corn Crib stadium. This includes the management of:
- Concessions Stands
- Bars
- Food and Beverage staff
- Suite & Premium service
- Carefully track food/drink inventory and place new product orders
- Enforce health and safety standards to meet and exceed applicable local, state, and federal guidelines
- Maximize the performance of concession stands, bars, and all points of sale locations
- Ensure that all menu items are correctly built and displayed on the POS
- Ensure consistent quality of menu items served
- Follow through on all menu items, sales, and promotions
- Event & rental staffing - includes hiring, proper training & certification, onboarding, and scheduling
- Food & Beverage staff = registers, runners, cooks, suite servers, bartenders
- Gameday Staff = Team Store workers, PA room staff, athletic trainer
- Front Office/Intern staff (scheduling only) = stadium rentals/non-baseball events and all community events
- Responsible for scheduling staff to meet the needs of each game/event
- Provide hands-on leadership to all staff
- Reporting of all seasonal staff wages, tips, and commissions to accounting
- Cash reconciliation
- Enforcing system of checks and balances of cash and ballpark inventory for accurate reporting and prevention of theft
- Responsible for cash bags during selected baseball games and events
- Reconciliation of cash following selected baseball games and events
- Participate as a team member through meetings and offer support to other team members to maximize customer service, staff satisfaction, and sales performance
- Interact with other Normal CornBelters departments to provide a cooperative, client-oriented focus for all fan experience
- Help to build an atmosphere of professionalism while following the core values of the Normal CornBelters organization
- Any additional duties or tasks assigned by the General Manager
Competencies and Qualifications
- Proven leadership and management experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or food and beverage operations.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a strong attention to detail for inventory, cash handling, and reporting.
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team of staff.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the event schedule.
- Proficiency with Google Drive suite and point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred.
- A passion for live sports and a commitment to delivering an outstanding fan and staff experience.
Compensation
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, salaried position.
