About the Role
The Thrillville Thrillbillies are looking for an energetic and outgoing individual to bring our mascot to life at Mtn Dew Park and throughout the Southern Illinois community.
The Team Mascot plays a key role in creating the fun, family-friendly environment that defines the Thrillville experience. From entertaining fans during games to appearing at community events and helping produce social media content, the mascot helps serve as one of the most recognizable and beloved representatives of the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys performing, engaging with crowds, and bringing high energy to live events.
This position reports to the Director of Entertainment & Promotions and will work Thrillbillies home games as well as select community appearances throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage, interact, and connect with fans throughout the ballpark and in the community.
- Follow the game-day run of show provided by the Ballpark Entertainment Coordinator to ensure the mascot is present for scheduled in-game promotions and entertainment elements.
- Help develop creative ideas and participate in filming social media content to maintain a consistent mascot presence on digital platforms year-round.
- Serve as the mascot performer during games and events, bringing energy and personality to every appearance.
- Act as the mascot handler when not performing in costume, assisting with coordination and logistics.
- Appear at community events, sponsor activations, and promotional appearances when requested.
- Represent the Thrillville Thrillbillies in a fun, engaging, and professional manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Entertainment & Promotions Department.
Qualifications & Skills
- High energy, outgoing personality, and enthusiasm for engaging with fans.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and game-day schedules.
- Background in performing arts, dance, theater, cheer, or entertainment is preferred but not required.
- Strong non-verbal communication skills and ability to interact using body language and gestures.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
- Reliable and committed to scheduled appearances and team responsibilities.
- Strong situational awareness and attention to surroundings while performing.
Work Environment
This position primarily operates at Mtn Dew Park, an outdoor sports and entertainment venue. The role requires working in a high-energy environment with large crowds and varying weather conditions. Breaks in air-conditioned spaces will be provided during events as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, twist, and climb stairs.
- Ability to walk and perform on uneven ground.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and move equipment when necessary.
- Strong stamina and comfort performing in a physically demanding environment.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time, seasonal position.
Team mascots must be available to work:
- Thrillbillies home games throughout the baseball season
- Evenings, weekends, and select holidays
- Community appearances and promotional events as needed
Staff may be required to arrive up to two hours prior to game time for preparation and pre-game entertainment elements.
