The Thrillville Thrillbillies are seeking a passionate, experienced, and community-minded Field Manager to lead our team both on and off the field.
This position goes beyond lineups and pitching changes, it’s about setting the tone for the entire organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive baseball knowledge, proven coaching experience, and a genuine passion for player development. Just as importantly, they must embrace what the Thrillbillies mean to the community and embody our organizational motto: “Fans Are Our Focus.”
As the face of the Thrillbillies on the field, the Field Manager is expected to build a competitive team, foster a professional and positive clubhouse culture, and create memorable connections between players, fans, and the broader Southern Illinois community. This leader will understand that wins come not only from the scoreboard, but from relationships, effort, and the pride our players take in representing Thrillville.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development- Recruit, manage, and develop players in alignment with organizational standards.
- Create a competitive, disciplined, and fun team environment that reflects the Thrillbillies’ culture.
- Oversee all on-field activities, including practices, games, lineups, and player preparation.
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to ensure consistent instruction and player growth.
- Manage in-game strategy, bullpen management, and player substitutions.
 
 
 
- Player Relations & Clubhouse Management- Establish a professional and positive clubhouse atmosphere.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for players both on and off the field.
- Promote sportsmanship, accountability, and teamwork among all players and staff.
- Coordinate with the front office on player housing, transportation, and daily needs as necessary.
 
 
 
- Community & Fan Engagement- Encourage and support player participation in community appearances, youth clinics, and local events.
- Interact positively with fans, sponsors, and the media — representing the Thrillbillies with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Promote and embody the team’s fan-focus philosophy at all times, especially at Mtn Dew Park.
 
 
 
- Collaboration with Front Office- Work directly with the General Manager to ensure smooth coordination between baseball operations and business operations.
- Communicate roster updates, scheduling needs, and player availability promptly.
- Assist in identifying potential player signings and serve as a key contact with league officials as needed.
- Provide input on game-day operations, promotions, and community events to enhance the fan experience.
 
 
 
Qualifications
- Prior coaching or managerial experience at the collegiate, professional, or summer league level.
- Strong understanding of baseball strategy, player development, and game management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and connect with players of diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to community engagement and a willingness to be visible and involved in Thrillville activities.
- Passion for fostering a “Fans Are Our Focus” culture within the team.
