As a Analytics & Scouting Intern with the Thrillville Thrillbillies, you’ll turn data into decisions that impact what happens on the field, in the clubhouse, and across the fan experience. This isn’t just about keeping score, it’s about understanding why things happen, spotting trends before anyone else, and helping our coaches and front office make informed calls that shape the season.
You’ll work closely with Thrillbillies coaches, front office staff, and league personnel to manage in-game scoring, analyze performance metrics, maintain player and team data, and keep the record books up-to-date. If you’ve got a sharp eye for detail, a love for baseball, and a passion for turning spreadsheets into stories, this is your field of dreams.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the Official Scorer for all Thrillville Thrillbillies home games.
- Prepare daily roster and lineup sheets for fans, coaches, and staff.
- Compile statistical and scouting reports for Thrillbillies coaches and front office use.
- Manage and update team and league-wide data sheets using Microsoft Excel and other analytics tools.
- Keep the Thrillbillies Record Book current throughout the season.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the official media guide and player bios.
- Utilize data software such as Trackman and Tableau for performance analysis.
- Collaborate with staff on advanced analytics projects to identify trends and insights.
What You’ll Need
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of baseball rules, scoring, and terminology.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
- Experience with data software such as Trackman, Tableau, or similar programs.
- Familiarity with coding languages (Python, R, SQL, or similar) is a major plus, but not required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask during live games.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- A passion for data-driven storytelling and the game of baseball.
The Details
- Stipend: $750/month
- Schedule: All Thrillbillies home games and major team events; occasional remote work for report compilation and updates.
- Location: Mtn Dew Park — Marion, Illinois
- Days Off: Scheduled throughout the season to maintain balance.
