The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp are seeking an Operations Coordinator to join our award-winning operations team in this high-level internship!

This position reports to the General Manager and will have a high level of responsibility and accountability for Stadium Operations and Security on game days, non-game events, and includes independent work on non-game days. This internship will provide an opportunity to gain supervisory experience by overseeing select interns. 

A successful candidate is expected to be available on a full-time basis. A varying weekly schedule will be provided that includes game nights, field events, and non-game responsibilities occurring throughout the morning and day. Scheduled work satisfies college internship requirements of 300+ hours.

Our intern team experience is fun, fast-paced, extremely rewarding, and essential for creating the best fan and sponsor experience in summer collegiate baseball.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Oversight and successful execution of all Game Day Operations Intern duties, including but not limited to those listed on the 2026 Internship Posting.
  • Interacting with vendors, receiving deliveries, and stocking goods received.
  • Ensuring all game day and event field setup and teardown are completed satisfactorily.
  • Managing and assisting with all preseason stadium set-up.
  • Supporting all gameday functions during all 28 regular-season home games in the summer of 2026.
  • All stadium operations during games, including dugouts, on-field safety, stadium lighting, concessions, beer tent, merch stand, and umpire area. 
  • Creating a fun and energetic experience by personally interacting with fans inside and outside of the ballpark.
  • Supervising a select number of Operations Interns during games.

Education and Experience:
  • Applicants should be currently enrolled in an accredited program at a College or University. 
  • Prior internship or work experience required. 
  • Previous volunteer experience preferred.

Dates & Schedule:
  • Expected Availability: May 18, 2026 - August 14, 2026
    • Orientation, Training, & Field Setup: May 18 - May 24
    • Regular Season: May 25 - August 1
    • Postseason: August 2 - August 7
    • Packing & Cleaning: August 2 - August 7 or August 8 - August 14

Compensation & More Information:
  • Compensation: $2,500 stipend for the summer. Class credit, if applicable.
  • We encourage applicants to consult with their academic advisors to make sure their work experience is suitable for fulfilling degree requirements. This internship provides approximately 300+ hours of experience during the summer.
  • Please note: Housing is not provided. Applicants who do not reside locally will be expected to secure their own housing if selected.
  • Location preference may be given to candidates located in or with confirmed housing within the Illinois Valley footprint or driving distance.

  • The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp are an amateur wood bat summer league baseball team, made up of top college players from around the country who aspire to a career in professional baseball!
