Prep Baseball Tournaments KC – Scouting Director
The Director of Scouting will lead and execute all components of scouting for Prep Baseball Tournaments KC. This role is responsible for managing the on-site tournament scouting schedule, overseeing social media coverage, collecting data, and cultivating relationships with local organizations as well as new partners.
The Director will manage and enhance the five pillars of our tournament business: Scouting, Analytics, Media, Events, and Tournaments. In the spring and fall seasons, this position will operate as the sole scout, while in the summer, it will lead the hiring, training, and management of scouting and TrackMan interns to elevate event coverage.
Prep Baseball Tournaments (PBT) is a rapidly growing tournament operation within amateur baseball, offering a fast-paced work environment and a commitment to delivering a first-class experience for teams, players, and coaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site representative for scouting, ensuring alignment with PBT’s five pillars.
- Manage weekly write-ups, scouting coverage schedules, and social media planning.
- Pre-tournament: Promote players/teams participating in upcoming events
- In-tournament: Provide live media coverage and updates on players/teams
- Post-tournament: Highlight standout players and teams from each event.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and scheduling of summer scouting and TrackMan interns.
- Lead weekly scouting calls to review past events and prepare for upcoming weekends.
- Collaborate with operations staff to ensure scouting coverage aligns with age groups, organizations, and top prospects.
- Build and maintain relationships with teams, players, and coaches, as well as new partnerships with travel baseball organizations locally, regionally, and nationally. These relationships will be used to help sell and fill both tournament and scouting events across the Midwest.
- Continue to develop and refine scouting coverage to improve the customer experience.
- Act as a bridge between tournaments and showcases, sharing notes and insights with state directors.
- Create select spring high school baseball scouting coverage in Kansas and Missouri.
- Assist in operating Prep Baseball Showcases
Basic Qualifications
- Experience working in baseball or other sports (administration, sport management, coaching, game operations, or similar).
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to Kansas City, MO.
- Strong moral character and unquestionable integrity.
- High-level communication skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving ability.
- High energy level with a dedicated work ethic and flexible schedule.
- Self-starter with the ability to build and maintain professional connections.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Team-oriented attitude with proven leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to present professionally and manage conflict effectively.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
