Position Overview
The Lead Operator is responsible for overseeing the on-site execution of Prep Baseball tournaments across the Northeast region. This role ensures that each event runs efficiently, professionally, and according to Prep Baseball standards. The Lead Operator serves as the primary on-site leader, managing event staff, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring a high-quality experience for players, coaches, and spectators. This role will report directly to the Director of Northeast Operations.
This position requires travel to multiple tournament locations and strong leadership in a fast-paced, live-event environment. Compensation is provided on a per-event basis.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day tournament operations at assigned locations.
- Ensure fields, equipment, and event logistics are properly set up and maintained.
- Coordinate game schedules and ensure games start and run on time.
- Serve as the primary on-site operational contact during the event.
Staff Management
- Manage and supervise part-time event staff, including operators, scorers, and support personnel.
- Assign responsibilities and ensure staff are performing their duties effectively.
- Provide leadership, direction, and problem-solving throughout tournament operations.
Tournament Execution
- Ensure all tournament procedures and Prep Baseball standards are followed.
- Work closely with umpires, coaches, and facility staff to maintain smooth operations.
- Address operational challenges quickly and effectively during the event.
Customer Experience
- Provide professional support to coaches, players, and families during events.
- Respond to questions and resolve concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Represent Prep Baseball with professionalism at all times.
Logistics & Travel
- Travel to tournament locations throughout the Northeast region.
- Assist with pre-event preparation and post-event wrap-up.
- Communicate event updates and operational feedback to management.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to manage and lead part-time staff in a live event environment
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Comfortable working long days during tournament events
- Valid driver’s license required
- Reliable form of transportation required
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently
- Experience in sports event operations, baseball, or tournament management preferred
- Preferred location: Northern New Jersey (not required)
Compensation & Travel
- Pay is provided on a per-event basis

2026 Northeast Tournament Schedule
Lead Operators will be assigned to the following Prep Baseball Tournaments during the 2026 summer season. To be considered for this position you need to be available for at a minimum of 5 of the following weekends.
