Job Summary
The Pierogies are the mascots that run the Great Pittsburgh Pierogy Race during every Pirates home game. In addition to running the race, The Pierogies also participate in appearances both at PNC Park and around the community.
Responsibilities:
- Running in The Great Pittsburgh Pierogy Race during every Pirates home game.
- Conduct visits each game with fans seated in the suite level following first pitch.
- Responsible for appearances at PNC Park gates before Sunday games on Federal Street.
- Responsible for tear down of Block Parties on Saturdays and Family Fun Zone on Sundays.
- Assist in line management of Kids Run the Bases post-game on Sundays.
- Participate in special appearances at PNC Park and around the community.
- Willing to learn the Bucco Brigade duties and fill in when needed.
- Other duties game-day duties as assigned by the Ballpark Entertainment and Marketing Department.
Qualifications
Required:
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to come to PNC Park to participate in a tryout to run/sprint 225 yards in 40 seconds or less while wearing mascot suit.
- Comfortable working with the public and especially children.
- Must be able to obtain Act 33, 34 and 73 Clearances.
- Ability to work 70% of 81 home games (57 games) beginning Opening Day (April 3rd) 2026 with a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to attend at least 70% of all special event appearances
- Selected candidates will be required to attend mandatory meetings/events including: Gameday Staff Orientation, Guest Promise Training, Rehearsal Games, and Pirates Fest 2026. Mandatory dates will be given after the team has been decided.
Desired:
- Prior performance or entertainment experience is preferred.
- Involvement in run clubs or 5k, marathon, etc. training.
