Job Summary
This role will assist with the Pirates Charities and Community team with various projects and daily activities. The Intern, Community Affairs will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of Pirates Charities fundraising and community efforts and events.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the fulfillment of the organization’s in-kind donation requests, including correspondence with and distribution of items to each benefiting organization.
- Manage correspondence from the Pirates Charities email inbox and provide customer service to answer inquires as related to philanthropic efforts of the Pirates organization.
- Manage the Scoreboard Messages program and work with the Game Presentation team to ensure all messages are displayed correctly. Field questions and provide program details to fans who purchase messages.
- Assist the Pirates Charities and Community Engagement team with hosting community groups at PNC Park during Pirates home games, including Pirates Charities suite guests and community ticket groups.
- Assist with executing all gameday experiences led by the Pirates Charities and Community Engagement team such as batting practice visits and on-field pregame ceremonies.
- Assist the Manager, Community Programming in the execution of the Pirates Community Ticketing Program by corresponding with groups and distributing tickets prior to each Pirates home game.
- Assist the Manager, Community Programming in the execution of various community events at PNC Park or in the community, including set-up, event activation and tear-down, as well as pre-planning and post-event evaluation.
- Assist the Manager, Youth Baseball and Softball in the execution of various youth events at PNC Park or in the community, including correspondence with groups ahead of the event, event set-up, activation and tear-down, as well as pre-planning and post-event evaluation.
- Assist the Coordinator, Pirates Charities and Community Engagement in the execution of various fundraising events at PNC Park or in the community such as the Pirates Charities Golf Outing, including correspondence with attendees ahead of the event, event set-up, activation and tear-down, as well as pre-planning and post-event evaluation.
- Assist the Coordinator, Pirates Charities and Community Engagement in fundraising activities such as the execution of the 50/50 Raffle during Pirates home games and facilitating online auctions, benefiting Pirates Charities.
- Assist the Fellow, Youth Baseball & Softball and Community Engagement with day-to-day functions.
Required:
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
- Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Candidates majoring in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, Community Outreach or related area.
- Currently a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student level.
