Job Summary
The Business Strategy Intern will play a key role in supporting high‑priority initiatives across the organization. Working closely with the Head of Business Operations and the Finance team, this intern will contribute to strategic projects spanning concessions, merchandise, ballpark operations, baseball operations, and other core business areas. The role involves conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, developing insights, and translating findings into clear, compelling presentations for senior leadership. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations and communicate them effectively
Responsibilities
- Support various strategic projects across concessions, merchandise, gameday operations, baseball operations, etc.
- Prepare and contribute actionable insights to presentations, dashboards, and reports for senior leadership
- Build financial models to evaluate new and existing business opportunities
- Conduct competitive benchmarking across MLB to identify best practices
- Review departmental performance to budget, analyze drivers of variance, and prepare summaries for discussions with department leads
- Support potential RFP processes for new vendors by gathering requirements, conducting preliminary analysis, evaluating proposals, and helping prepare recommendation materials for leadership
- Assist with ad‑hoc analysis requested by senior leadership
Qualifications
Required:
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States
- Candidates majoring in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Analytics/Data Science, Sports Management or related areas
- Must be in a degree-seeking program at junior, senior or graduate level
- Must be available to live and work in Pittsburgh throughout the duration of your internship

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in preparing presentations and summarizing complex information for varying audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
