Job Summary
The Pirates Ball Team is responsible for patrolling the foul lines during Pirates home games at PNC Park. In addition, the Ball Team will also be asked to work non-game day events at the ballpark, around the community and Pirates related baseball and softball clinics. You will be serving as overall ambassadors for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for stopping all foul balls during the games
- Execution of Kid's Sunday events that include Family Fun Zone (pre-game) and Kids Run the Bases (post-game)
- Execution for baseball and softball related clinics in the community and serve as community ambassadors for the team.
- Assist with various community and ballpark events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Ballpark Entertainment and Marketing Department.
- Willing to learn the Bucco Brigade duties and fill in when needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
- Prior experience playing softball or baseball. College Experience a plus.
- 18 years or older.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Comfortable working with the public and especially children.
- Ability to attend in person tryouts on Sunday, December 14th, 2025.
- Ability to work 70% of 81 home games (57 games) beginning on Opening Day (April 3rd) 2026 with a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays. (Monday - Saturday schedule typically starts at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays 10:00 a.m.)
- Ability to attend at least 70% of all community functions promoting Pirates baseball. (Timing of these events are typically on weekends but may fall within 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
- Selected candidates will be required to attend mandatory meetings/events including: Gameday Staff Orientation, Guest Promise Training, Rehearsal Games, and Pirates Fest 2026. Mandatory dates will be given after the team has been decided.
- Must obtain Act 33, 34 and 73 clearances within 60 days of the start date.
Desired:
- At least one (1) semester of college credit desired.
- Candidates with public relations/communications experience are preferred.
