IBP provides resources, scale, and expertise to help each standalone team in our portfolio thrive. Currently, our portfolio includes the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers and the Long Beach Baseball Club, with additional teams in active development. Our teams play in the Pioneer Baseball League, an independent league founded in 1939 that partners with Major League Baseball.
This is a unique opportunity to drive community engagement for Long Beach's new independent professional baseball team. Role Description
The Director of Stadium Operations is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and operation of a minor league baseball stadium. This role ensures the facility is safe, clean, and fan-friendly while delivering a first-class game day and event experience. The position oversees daily stadium operations, event preparation, vendor and contractor relationships, and compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facility & Stadium Operations
● Manage the day-to-day operations of the stadium, including maintenance, custodial, security, parking, and event services.
● Ensure the stadium is clean, safe, and operational for all home games, practices, and non-baseball events.
● Develop and implement maintenance schedules for seating, playing surface, scoreboards, HVAC, lighting, and other stadium systems.
● Oversee setup and breakdown of events, including field conversions, signage, and hospitality areas
2. Game Day & Event Execution
● Serve as the primary point of contact for stadium operations during games and events.
● Oversee ingress, egress, parking, security, fan amenities, and facility readiness.
● Troubleshoot operational issues quickly and effectively.
● Support the front office and marketing team with sponsorship activations, promotions, and special events.
2. Staff Leadership
● Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal operations staff, event staff, custodians, and contracted service providers.
● Lead and motivate game day operations teams, ensuring exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.
● Coordinate with security, concessions, and ticketing staff to ensure smooth game-day operations.
4. Budget & Vendor Management
● Develop and manage annual operations budget, including maintenance, staffing, and capital projects.
● Oversee relationships with vendors and contractors for cleaning, landscaping, equipment, and capital improvements.
● Monitor expenses and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective operations.
5. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
● Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, local fire, health, and building codes.
● Develop and implement emergency procedures, evacuation plans, and risk management strategies.
● Maintain certifications, inspection records, and regulatory documentation for stadium facilities.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Facility Management, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
● Minimum 5+ years of experience in stadium/venue operations, facility management, or event operations.
● Strong leadership skills with experience managing both full-time and seasonal staff.
● Knowledge of facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, turf/field maintenance).
● Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
● Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the baseball/event schedule.
Preferred Attributes:
● Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages)
● Deep knowledge of and connection to the local community in Long Beach
● Experience in a minor league or collegiate sports environment.
● Working knowledge of turf management for baseball fields.
● Familiarity with capital project planning and execution.
