POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Network Infrastructure will be responsible for administering network and supporting infrastructure at Citizens Bank Park, Baycare Ballpark, and the Phillies Dominican Republic Academy. This role will drive the implementation of best practices with managing a large multi-site network, focusing on security, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Candidates should have experience directly working with, and managing via partners, wired and wireless networks and supporting infrastructure. Preferred candidates will have experience working in large multi-site venues, ideally in a professional sports or higher education setting.
This role is primarily on-site with standard weekday hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), along with some flexibility to work remotely as schedules allow. Additional evening and weekend availability may be needed for home games, special events, and maintenance, as well as participation in an after-hours on-call rotation. Occasional travel to affiliate sites will also be required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network & Infrastructure
- Configure, manage, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points/controllers, and security monitoring tools
- Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring reliability, uptime, and quality of service
- Implement and maintain best practices with network security ensuring effective segmentation, access control, and updates of supporting architecture
- Systems Administration
- Manage server, services and monitoring supporting network operations
- Support on premise data center operations and storage area network
- Contribute to network resiliency efforts through managing backups, testing, and administration of on premise and cloud back-up solutions
- Relationship Management
- Manage service providers and network infrastructure partners
- Coordinate with facilities management and union trades on physical infrastructure supporting network operations
- Partner with MLB and other providers on the support and maintenance of ballpark Wi-Fi and other services
- Support
- This role will be asked to contribute to strategic projects in alignment with other responsibilities, e.g., capital projects, application deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and other work as needed
- Assists the technology operations team as a network subject matter expert and participates in regular operations coverage with department staff
- Supports the delivery of network services for concerts, jewel events, and special events that take place at the ballpark
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience managing fully converged networks, including wireless, firewalls, routers, and switches, following industry best practices.
- Deep understanding of network protocols such as STP, DHCP, DNS, 802.1X, LACP, MLAG, and VLANs.
- Experience with traffic engineering, NAT, TCP/IP, multicast, and IPv4/IPv6.
- Proficiency in firewall configuration and management.
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi spectrums, channels, VPNs, and wireless troubleshooting.
- Experience working in enterprise data center environments and managing large-scale networks.
- Familiarity with administration and maintenance of virtual environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with telephony management, including SIP-based systems and enterprise communications, e.g. Mitel, Cisco, and Avaya.
- Understanding of IT service management (ITSM) concepts and frameworks and supporting applications such as Service Now, Jira, Zendesk
- Proven ability to direct and manage service providers and technology vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and apply knowledge across comparable solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience and/or certifications will be considered.
- Vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Extreme Networks, Checkpoint, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality support to non-technical users.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Cloud administration experience across major platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Experience with Zero Trust, Secure Access Service Edge, or similar methodologies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and transport equipment throughout the facility.
- Must be able to lift 30–50 lbs. and perform moderate physical activity as needed.
