Position Summary
The Director of Stadium Operations and Facilities is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of the stadium and all related facilities. This role provides leadership over facility maintenance, capital projects, event operations, vendor management, and regulatory compliance to ensure a safe, functional, and fan-ready environment year-round. The Director serves as the primary point of accountability for the physical condition, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance of the stadium.
Facility & Maintenance Management
- Oversee all aspects of stadium facility maintenance, including structural systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, irrigation as needed, lighting, roofing, seating, restrooms, concessions infrastructure, and back-of-house areas.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to extend asset life and reduce emergency repairs.
- Supervise all facilities, and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Coordinate routine inspections and corrective actions to ensure facilities remain code-compliant and operationally sound.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facility emergencies and after-hours issues.
Event & Game Day Operations
- Lead stadium readiness for all events, including baseball games, concerts, community events, and special functions.
- Develop and execute detailed event operations plans covering staffing, security, cleaning, utilities, and crowd flow.
- Coordinate with internal departments (grounds, security, food & beverage, ticketing, marketing) to ensure seamless event execution.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to identify operational improvements.
Safety, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local/state building codes, fire safety regulations, ADA requirements, and PDL standards.
- Oversee safety programs, incident reporting, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Partner with front office, on events, and event related budgets that impacts the facility.
- Lead emergency preparedness planning, including severe weather response, evacuation procedures, and incident command protocols.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage third-party vendors and service providers, including janitorial, , mechanical contractors, security, waste management, and specialty trades.
- Negotiate service contracts, monitor performance, and control costs while maintaining service quality.
- Review vendor invoices, validate work completion, and ensure compliance with contractual and insurance requirements.
Budgeting & Capital Planning
- Develop and manage the stadium operations and facilities budget.
- Forecast capital improvement needs and participate in long-range facility planning.
- Track expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage operating efficiencies.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership regarding facility investments and infrastructure needs.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the stadium leadership team, providing operational expertise and strategic input.
- Maintain strong working relationships with community partners, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the operations team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Management, Sports Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in stadium, arena, large-venue, or complex facility operations.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with building systems and facility maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, building codes, life-safety systems, and ADA compliance.
- Proven experience managing budgets, vendors, and capital projects.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and event days.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to respond to on-call facility emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in professional or collegiate sports facilities.
- Familiarity with league standards (MLB/MiLB or equivalent).
- Strong excel and computer skills and the ability to forecast expenses and budgets
- Experience working with municipal-owned facilities or public-private partnerships.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to walk the stadium, climb stairs and ladders, and access confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions and mechanical environments.
