The El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, are seeking a full-time Mascot Coordinator to serve as the primary performer as the team’s mascot, Chico, while assisting with the organization’s community outreach efforts. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications and is responsible for enhancing fan engagement through creative and professional mascot performances and supporting the execution of community relations programs that strengthen the Chihuahuas presence and impact throughout the Borderplex region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform as the El Paso Chihuahuas official mascot on gamedays and at various public appearances and community events.
  • Coordinate with various departments to fulfill requested in-game activities and entitlements.
  • Represent the El Paso Chihuahuas organization with enthusiasm, professionalism, and integrity at all times.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and execute mascot appearances at community, Corporate Partners, and charitable events.
  • Develop and perform engaging in-game skits and fan interactions to enhance the overall entertainment experience.
  • Maintain mascot costume, props, and related materials, ensuring cleanliness, upkeep, and repair as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise part-time mascot handlers.
  • Develop, plan, market, and execute Chico’s educational programs for school appearances and community outreach programs. 
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of community outreach programs, including the Chihuahuas Volunteer Pack.
  • Manage and process donation requests, community appearance requests, and partnership opportunities.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, events, and nonprofit collaborations.
  • Track and maintain records of community appearances, engagement metrics, and program participation.
  • Support organizational charitable initiatives and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist with game presentation elements, on-field promotions, and theme night activations.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Promotions teams to integrate mascot performances into in-game programming.
  • Manage Chico’s Instagram account, delivering engaging posts to grow the Chico brand and the platform.
  • Work with the Creative Services and Social Media departments to create engaging mascot and community content.
  • Provide support for El Paso Locomotive FC and other MountainStar Sports Group events as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be meet a height requirement of 5'10" ft to 6'2" ft. 
  • Previous experience as a mascot is a must; candidates will be required to send audition videos.
  • Strong self-management skills and organization. 
  • Ability to engage audiences of all ages.
  • Comfortable performing in a full-body costume for extended periods in various conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Salary commensurate with experience: $30,000-$40,000.
