Summary:
The Orioles are seeking Tarp Crew members for the 2026 season! Tarp Crew is a part-time hourly wage position that reports to the Senior Director of Field Operations. While the main responsibility of the Tarp Crew is assuring timely application and removal of the field tarp in weather situations, additional duties include set up and break down of batting practice, in-game field maintenance, post-game clean up and other miscellaneous duties. The majority of the hours worked will be during Orioles home games. However, additional non-game day hours are required as weather deems necessary. This position will be working in occasionally challenging weather conditions, and will require regular amounts of heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, sitting, twisting and running. The nature of the position is very physical. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a post-offer physical ability assessment to confirm capability to perform essential job functions. No prior experience is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain field conditions and safely cover the field during inclement weather
- Batting practice set-up and breakdown
- Pre-game field preparations
- In-game duties as assigned
- Post-game field clean up
- Additional miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 lbs
- Reliable transportation with the availability to work days, nights, holidays, weekends and overtime as necessary
- Work in and contribute to a professional team atmosphere
- Ability to frequently deal with a rapidly changing work schedule and environment
- Moving quickly and communicating clearly in unpredictable situations
- Ability to learn on-the-job
- Available for a minimum of 85% of all scheduled 2026 Orioles home games
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Tarp Crew members perform most of their work outdoors in all types of weather, surrounded by high decibel sounds. The ability to communicate clearly in these environments is necessary.
- Tarp Crew members will work in challenging weather conditions. Applicants should be aware of and comfortable working in heat, humidity, cold, wind and rain.
- Due to the physical nature of the position, candidates are expected to be able to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 pounds regularly, and have the ability to move quickly in unpredictable situations.
- This position requires frequent amounts of pushing, pulling, bending, sitting, twisting and running. Applicants must be able to perform all physical duties repeatedly, over long periods of time.

The anticipated hourly rate for this role is $15/hour.
