Position Summary:
The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the daily and monthly accounting operations of the organization. This role is ideal for a candidate with a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a desire to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced sports business environment. The Staff Accountant will play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records for a Major League Baseball club.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post journal entries for a variety of business activities including revenue, accruals, and prepaid expenses
  • Own month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of general ledger account reconciliations
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations
  • Support fixed asset accounting and monthly depreciation schedules
  • Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Work closely with AP, AR, and payroll teams to ensure transaction accuracy
  • Provide accounting support for special events, stadium operations, and off-season initiatives
  • Assist in audit preparation and respond to auditor requests as needed
  • Help implement process improvements and enhance accounting procedures and controls
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial compliance and reporting accuracy
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification or CPA exam in progress
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Business Central, Oracle, SAP)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the sports, entertainment, or hospitality industry
  • Familiarity with budgeting tools and financial reporting systems

Work Environment:

The anticipated base salary for this role is $60,000 - $68,000 annually depending on experience.
