JOB TITLE: Special Events Manager
DEPARTMENT: Ballpark Operations
REPORTS TO: Director – Ballpark Experience
SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to plan and execute all of the club’s special events. The Special Events Manager will serve as the primary liaison for all event and operational needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to and including):
- Plan and execute year-round in-park and out of park special events, including Opening Day, Theme Nights, and Corporate Partner & Ticket Sales events. Evaluate each event for the return on investment and complete a cost benefit analysis.
- Research and develop new event concepts as they relate to the overall goals of the company.
- Management of promotions staff, interns and volunteers.
- Maintain budget and events calendar.
- Coordinates efforts of caterers, decorators, audio-visual, event staff, etc., when organizing set-up requirements and event specifications.
- Negotiate with vendors, entertainment and catering for services during events.
- Make travel and lodging arrangements for special guests related to the event.
- Creates post-event summaries to capture lessons learned for each event.
- Ability to read and interpret site maps to determine feasible use of facility/campus space.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Have 4+ years experience organizing large and small events for a variety of audiences preferably in a ballpark, stadium, arena or convention center setting.
- Be detail oriented, able to prioritize tasks and able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
- Be willing to work long hours, a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with team members across all departments.
- Excellent problem solving and customer relations skills.
- Ability to express ideas and convey information effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to direct other staff operations in delivering diverse facility services and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to keep track of the large number of details involved in the successful execution of events.
