Position Summary:
The Senior Coordinator, Business Communications helps shape and amplify the organization’s story through earned media. This role focuses on driving positive press coverage and developing creative media strategies that elevate the Orioles brand across business, community, and cultural platforms. The role also supports all aspects of the radio and TV game broadcasts including providing messaging and coordinating guests and promotions. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work in coordination with the SVP, Communications and Director, Public Relations, to develop and execute earned media strategies that highlight the Orioles’ business initiatives, community impact, partnerships, and fan experience
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to secure high-impact coverage
  • Identify compelling story angles and craft media pitches, press releases, and media materials that align with the organization’s best interests and strategic goals
  • Proactively monitor industry trends and local developments to uncover opportunities for thought leadership and timely storytelling
  • Lead the partnership between the Communications Department and Orioles radio and TV partners to coordinate game broadcasts, messaging, guests, and promotions, both in-season and during the off-season
  • Support the integration of earned media strategies with digital, social, and owned content channels to extend reach and engagement
  • Work with Director, PR to track, measure, and report on earned media coverage and sentiment to evaluate success and inform strategy
  • Work in coordination with Director, Public Relations and Baseball Communications Team to develop creative ideas to proactively generate publicity for players, coaches, and business-related initiatives
  • Write press releases, media advisories, and talking points regarding business-related announcements, and at times, baseball related topics
  • Supervise Business Communications Associate and delegate tasks accordingly
  • Assist SVP, Communications, and Director, PR, with off-season media events, including press conferences, conference calls, and events in the community
  • Develop and help execute content ideas and concepts, working collaboratively with broadcast partners, digital media, productions, photography, and other departments
  • Assist with research, writing, and editing the annual media guide, as well as team publications
  • Assist with strategic communications planning around club priorities
  • Assist with coordination of Sarasota communications needs
Experience and Qualifications:
  • 4-year college degree in public relations, sports management, communications, journalism or related fields
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in public relations for a professional sports team or Division I college program
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing earned media campaigns 
  • Extensive knowledge of baseball
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Solutions-oriented demeanor and superior teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask a variety of deadline-driven tasks effectively
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Creative Suite, and statistical research tools

The anticipated salary for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 annually depending on experience.
