Position Summary:
The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and providing financial reporting and analysis that informs strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills and a passion for excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the ballpark event accounting and reporting
- Involvement with the partnerships invoicing and accounts receivable aging
- Prepare entries for debt accounting and recording on interest and other related charges
- Ensure proper accounting of intercompany expenses
- Prepare fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and prepaid/amortization schedules
- Lead and participate in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation with the goal of getting to a 10-day close
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiries
- Apply strong knowledge of debits and credits to support accurate and compliant financial statements
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate across departments to gather financial data and provide guidance as needed
- Assist with special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and financial modeling as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
- CPA certification
- Minimum 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of integrity and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in professional sports, entertainment, or hospitality industries
- Familiarity with MLB financial policies, revenue sharing, and league reporting requirements
- Spanish language proficiency (written and spoken)
- Excellent understanding of finance principles and comfortable with making assumptions and projections to support sourcing decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Work Environment:
- This position is based on site in Baltimore, MD
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required during the season or fiscal deadlines

The anticipated salary for this role is $85,000-$95,000 annually depending on experience, plus bonus opportunity.
