JOB TITLE: Dietician and Nutrition Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Player Development

The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a Dietician and Nutrition Coordinator for the 2022 Major League Baseball Championship season.  This person will be responsible for the education and implementation for the organization in quality nutritional planning and practices.  
Education and Implementation
  •   Work with and report to sports medicine team to address nutritional challenges and deficiencies to performance and player health found through blood work and other testing
  •   Organize nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or creative meetings on various topics related to nutrition for performance
  •   Oversee and execute plan for dietary practices, body composition, recovery as it relates to performance and health
  •   Develop, plan, and collaborate with the player and staff on individualized nutritional care plans (including goals, intervention, and instruction)
  •   Aid in collecting body compositions and utilizing the data to formulate personal plan and goals with the athlete and coaches
  •   Conduct one-on-one consultations as requested or referred by athletic trainers, strength coaches, mental health coaches, physicians, or athletes
  •   Translate the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations
  •   Supervise the nutritional approach in the corrections of nutritional deficiencies in conjunction with athletic trainers and physicians
  •   Educate athletes in food selection (grocery store tours, food storage) and food preparation (cooking classes, meal prep consulting).
  •   Counsel athletes and create system based on optimal nutrition for recovery from illness or injury.
  •   Have flexible work schedule, extended hours as needed, ability to work weekends and holidays.
Meal Service and Menu Development
  •   Coordinate, implement, and oversee the planning of menus and other areas of nutrition at affiliates and in Sarasota
  •   Create and convey nutrition information for food service at relevant locations
  •   Manage budgets and product partnerships
  •   Manage and organize fueling stations in facilities
  •   Assist in the education and recommendation of NSF supplements

  •   Registered Dietician (RD)
  •   Bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition field, master's preferred.
  •   Ability to obtain state license within 3 months of being hired
  •   Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred.
  •   Experience in team setting working with meals, educational programs, and individual needs
  •   Be proficient in medical and metabolic nutritional therapy in relation to sports medicine
  •   Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with players and staff
  •   Have knowledge of NSF products and Milb/MLB rules and regulations
  •   Knowledge of food service quality and safety procedures.

  •   Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
