Thank you for your interest in an internship with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. It is our goal to provide you with hands-on experience and knowledge useful in competing for jobs in the baseball industry, beginning with Summer Collegiate Baseball. We will also work with you to fulfill requirements for college credit if necessary. Our internships are a great learning opportunity where previous experience is not always necessary. The Rafters are a part of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league located in the midwest. Each summer the Rafters host 36 games at Historic Witter Field and bring in over 35,000 fans through the gates.
We are seeking a highly creative and talented Sports Team Graphic Designer to join our dynamic marketing and communications team. As the Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for developing visually compelling graphics that elevate our sports team's brand identity and resonate with our fan base. You will work closely with the marketing and promotions department to create engaging visual content for various platforms, including social media, website, print materials, merchandise, and stadium displays. Key Responsibilities:
This position requires operating the video board in the stadium during games, including designing and implementing graphics for the video board.
- Visual Branding: Create and maintain a consistent visual brand identity for the sports team across all marketing materials, ensuring it aligns with the team's values and objectives.
- Graphic Design: Develop eye-catching and high-quality graphics, including social media visuals, posters, flyers, banners, digital ads, merchandise designs, and more.
- Social Media Content: Work with the Social Media Intern to design compelling social media graphics that enhance engagement, promote events, and drive fan interaction.
- Website Graphics: Collaborate with the web team to create visually appealing graphics for the team's website, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Stadium Displays: Create visually impactful graphics for stadium displays, including jumbotron animations, LED boards, and promotional visuals.
- Print Collateral: Design promotional materials such as brochures, postcards, and event programs to support marketing campaigns.
- Event Branding: Assist in designing visuals for special events and theme nights, creating an immersive experience for fans.
- Creative Ideation: Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm innovative design concepts that resonate with the target audience and support marketing objectives.
- This is not an all-inclusive list and you will be assigned additional team duties to ensure a positive fan experience, facilities cleanliness, and everyone’s safety.
Requirements:
- Graphic Design Experience: Proven experience in graphic design, preferably with a portfolio showcasing sports-related or entertainment industry work.
- Proficiency in Design Software: Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Canva, and other graphic design tools.
- Creativity and Innovation: A passion for creating visually engaging and innovative designs that capture the spirit of the team and its fan base.
- Brand Awareness: A strong understanding of branding principles and the ability to apply them cohesively across various design projects.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that all design elements are well-executed and aligned with the team's brand guidelines.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Team Player: Collaborative attitude, open to feedback, and willing to work with cross-functional teams.
- Sports Enthusiast: Familiarity with sports culture, especially the team's sport, to design graphics that resonate with fans.
Educational Background:
Pursuing a degree or certification in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Duration of Commitment:
This is a 3 month (Mid-May through Mid-August) summer internship position. Compensation and academic credit options can be discussed during the interview process.
