Thank you for your interest in an internship with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. It is our goal to provide you with hands-on experience and knowledge useful in competing for jobs in the baseball industry, beginning with Summer Collegiate Baseball.  We will also work with you to fulfill requirements for college credit if necessary.  Our internships are a great learning opportunity where previous experience is not always necessary. The Rafters are a part of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league located in the midwest. Each summer the Rafters host 36 games at Historic Witter Field and bring in over 35,000 fans through the gates.

Position Overview:
Are you enthusiastic about retail and customer service? Join our team as a Retail Sales Intern and gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of retail operations. As an intern, you will play an essential role in providing exceptional customer experiences, assisting with store operations, and contributing to sales growth. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about retail merchandising, customer engagement, and business operations. This is no lazy summer internship! It is However, Very Rewarding and Very Memorable!


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Service: Provide friendly and attentive customer service to all store visitors, assisting with product inquiries, purchases, and returns.
  2. Sales Support: Work with the sales team to achieve sales targets, upselling products, and recommending complementary items to customers.
  3. Merchandising: Assist in maintaining visual merchandising standards, ensuring products are displayed neatly and attractively.
  4. Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and organizing inventory levels, restocking shelves, and conducting periodic stock counts.
  5. Point of Sale (POS) System: Gain proficiency in using the POS system to process transactions and manage customer accounts.
  6. Store Operations: Participate in daily store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and register reconciliation.
  7. Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the products offered in the store to effectively assist customers and answer inquiries.
  8. Customer Engagement: Engage with customers proactively, offering assistance, and creating a welcoming shopping environment.
  9. Sales Reports: Collaborate with the sales team to generate sales reports and analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  10. Promotional Activities: Assist in the execution of in-store promotions, sales events, and product demonstrations.
  11. This is not an all-inclusive list and you will be assigned additional team duties to ensure a positive fan experience, facilities cleanliness, and everyone’s safety.

Requirements:
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Retail Enthusiast: A genuine interest in retail operations, merchandising, and sales.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with the sales team and support store operations.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in transactions and inventory management.
  • Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate store operating hours.

Educational Background: 
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Duration of Commitment & Compensation:
This is a 3 month (Mid-May through Mid-August) summer internship position. Compensation and academic credit options can be discussed during the interview process.
