Position Summary:
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual for an On-field Marketing and Promotions internship. As the On-Field Master of Ceremonies (MC), you will be the energetic face of our game-day experience, responsible for entertaining and engaging fans at Historic Witter Field. This role offers an immersive, hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in the sports and entertainment industry, specifically in live event hosting, audience interaction, and promotional execution. Your charisma and stage presence will be crucial in creating memorable experiences for over 35,000 fans each summer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take charge of event proceedings as the primary host and maintain a positive and engaging atmosphere throughout game days and special events.
- Interact with the audience, encouraging participation and creating a connection with attendees to ensure they feel involved and entertained.
- Introduce performers, speakers, and participants with enthusiasm and professionalism, highlighting their accomplishments and contributions.
- Lead on-field activities, contests, and games, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to event schedules within restrictive time constraints.
- Be quick on your feet to handle unforeseen situations, make impromptu announcements, and adapt to changes in the event flow.
- Collaborate with the on-field marketing team and event organizers to review and rehearse event scripts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to event themes.
- Incorporate event branding and sponsor messaging seamlessly into your interactions while maintaining a positive image for the event.
- Infuse energy, humor, and creativity into your performance to keep the audience entertained and engaged.
- Keep track of time and ensure the event stays on schedule, maintaining a balance between entertaining the audience and adhering to time constraints.
- Handle crowd dynamics, manage audience behavior, and maintain a respectful and safe environment during the event.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an on-field MC or live event host, demonstrating exceptional public speaking and presentation skills in front of large crowds (1000+ preferred).
- Natural charisma, enthusiasm, and high energy levels that can captivate and engage large crowds.
- Ability to think on your feet, handle unexpected situations, and adapt your approach to suit diverse audiences and event themes.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a clear, confident, and articulate speaking style.
- Collaborative attitude, working closely with event organizers, performers, and other event staff to ensure a seamless event experience.
- Punctuality and commitment to meeting event schedules and rehearsal timings.
- A genuine love for entertaining and engaging people, with a positive and approachable demeanor.
- Maintain a professional image while on-stage and in interactions with event stakeholders.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required during the baseball season.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in multiple languages is a plus.
Duration of Commitment & Compensation:
This is a 3-month summer internship position, typically running from Mid-May through Mid-August. Compensation and academic credit options can be discussed during the interview process.
