Thank you for your interest in an internship with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. It is our goal to provide you with hands-on experience and knowledge useful in competing for jobs in the baseball industry, beginning with Summer Collegiate Baseball. We will also work with you to fulfill requirements for college credit if necessary. Our internships are a great learning opportunity where previous experience is not always necessary. The Rafters are a part of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league located in the midwest. Each summer the Rafters host 36 games at Historic Witter Field and bring in over 35,000 fans through the gates.
Position Overview:
Do you have a passion for baseball and a talent for fostering positive relationships with fans? Join our team as a Baseball Fan Relations Intern and become an integral part of enhancing the overall fan experience. As an intern, you will play a vital role in engaging with fans, addressing their inquiries, and implementing initiatives to create a welcoming and memorable environment. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fan relations and event management within the exciting world of baseball. This is no lazy summer internship! Key Responsibilities:
- Fan Engagement: Interact with fans at games and events, providing outstanding customer service and creating memorable experiences.
- Inquiries and Assistance: Respond to fan inquiries and requests in a timely and friendly manner, offering assistance and relevant information.
- Fan Feedback Collection: Gather and record fan feedback to understand their needs, preferences, and concerns, contributing to the improvement of fan relations initiatives.
- Social Media Interaction: Engage with fans on social media platforms, responding to comments and messages to build a strong online community.
- Fan Appreciation Initiatives: Assist in planning and executing fan appreciation events and activities to show gratitude for their support.
- Fan Outreach Programs: Participate in the coordination of fan outreach programs, including fan clubs, loyalty rewards, and fan surveys.
- Special Events: Contribute to the planning and execution of special events, such as meet-and-greets with players, alumni, and host families.
- Ticketing Support: Assist with ticketing-related inquiries and ticket distribution for fan events.
- Fan Relations Data Management: Maintain databases and records of fan interactions and feedback for future reference.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and events teams to align fan relations initiatives with broader marketing and event strategies.
Requirements:
- Fan-Centric Attitude: A genuine passion for connecting with fans and delivering exceptional fan experiences.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and online.
- Baseball Knowledge: A solid understanding of baseball rules, player positions, and game dynamics.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to various fan-related tasks and events.
- Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with other departments to achieve collective goals.
- Social Media Savvy: Familiarity with various social media platforms and the ability to engage with fans online.
- Availability: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to cover baseball games and fan events.
Educational Background:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Duration & Compensation:
This is a 3 month (Mid-May through Mid-August) summer internship position. Compensation and academic credit options can be discussed during the interview process.
