Why you want to work here: The Pit Spitters internship program is designed to provide an extensive hands-on career development training and job shadow program for those navigating the selection of appropriate careers. We offer internship positions that are meaningful and compatible with education and aspirations. We work very hard, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously; we realize how important things like office darts, puppy visits, and staff happy hours are. Plus, you also get free shared housing, a monthly stipend, free baseball tickets & food (your friends will love you!), a free health club membership, and opportunities to get discounted or free tickets to various shows and events in West Michigan. We’re also great people to work with.
What you’ll do: Your primary focus will be on all things People Operations. You will learn from and be mentored closely by our People Operations Department. You will be helping us through the entire hiring process, job fairs and postings, initial phone screenings, onboarding processes, and employee orientation. When in season, you will be introduced to scheduling, maintaining, and updating employee files, as well as working on projects that help us prepare for game days. You’ll gain experience in employee relations and engagement. On game days, you can expect to check in employees, making sure they clock in and out for their shift, and going around the ballpark, ready to jump in and help where needed.
What you need: You need solid availability no later than May 11th through mid-August (or your return to school). You can anticipate a full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Non-event days are M-F 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Game or event days, the day still begins a bit later and ends after the game or event. You need a valid driver’s license and a great attitude.
