An entry-level position providing hands-on experience in collegiate summer baseball. Join the St. Cloud Rox for the summer to gain a behind-the-scenes experience like no other. You’ll learn the ins and outs of a sport organization within the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has over 400 alumni who have gone on to play Major League Baseball. The St. Cloud Rox are an industry leader in fan support, community engagement, staff development, along with consistently creating a ballpark environment that is incredibly entertaining and fun for fans and staff.  Many former Rox interns have landed a fulltime job with major and minor league sports organizations.

Interns will support specific departments throughout the season. The position will include event day duties and some non-game day events as well. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with the ability to work in a team environment, have an eagerness to learn, and possess the flexibility to adapt to what each day brings with a positive attitude. 

This position starts in mid/late May and lasts through mid-August.
Reports to: General Manager and Creative Director

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide the radio play-by-play of all St. Cloud Rox Baseball games on 1390/93.9 Granite City Sports, including pre-game and post-game shows, during the regular season (and playoffs if necessary).
  • Assist with press releases promoting team initiatives including, daily pre-game stories, in-game social media updates and post-game recaps for the team’s website.
  • Coordinate and maintain press box and broadcast booths
  • Assist in production of in-house video/audio projects
  • Ability to work evening hours, including weekends, as business indicates.
  • Entertains and informs listener audience
  • Conduct on-air and social media interviews with team personnel 
  • Develop feature stories and player biographical information for the game program & website 
  • Provide Rox alumni feature stories throughout the season 
  • Serve as the traveling secretary working with the club’s coaches to coordinate aspects of team travel including notifying restaurants, hotels, and other teams, getting team orders, room assignments, etc.
  •  Ability to include all sponsor and promotional live reads each game
  •  Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have a positive attitude and provide a strong effort to succeed
  • Experience broadcasting the play-by-play of baseball
  •  Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Outstanding knowledge about the game of baseball
  • Graphic design, along with video editing skills are desired
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Strong social media knowledge
