Position Overview
The Rockford Rivets are seeking a qualified individual to join the team as a Photography Intern for the upcoming season.The Photography Intern will assist in capturing and producing engaging photo content for the Rockford Rivets. This role is ideal for a creative and motivated student looking to gain hands-on experience in sports photography, content creation, and live event coverage within a collegiate sports environment. The Photography intern will work closely with the social media and broadcast team. This summer internship program runs from mid-May to late August. All interns are required to be available for each home game (36), along with any additional events assigned throughout the season.
Please note: This internship is unpaid, and candidates must be actively enrolled in a college or university program that allows them to receive academic credit for the internship.
Responsibilities
- Capture photo content during gamedays, training sessions, community events, and sponsorship activations.
- Edit and deliver photos for use across social media, digital platforms, marketing materials, and in-stadium displays.
- Collaborate with the marketing and social media director to execute creative content ideas and meet deadlines.
- Help maintain a consistent visual style aligned with club branding.
- Organize, caption, and archive photo galleries and image files.
- Assist with player, staff, and promotional photo shoots as needed.
- Will be required to work office/stadium hours on non-game days. All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current college student pursuing a degree in photography, communications, marketing, journalism, media, or a related field.
- Access to personal photography equipment, including a DSLR or mirrorless camera, computer and editing software is required.
- Eligible to receive college academic credit for the internship.
- Experience photographing sports, events, or live-action subjects.
- Proficiency with Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, or similar photo editing software.
- Experience producing short and long form videos.
- Ability to work on-site during regular office hours, as well as gamedays, nights and weekends.
- Strong understanding of composition, storytelling, and visual content creation.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment such as sports, news, or live events is a plus.
- A positive, team-first attitude and willingness to collaborate in a creative environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail.
