Job Description:
The Madison Mallards and Night Mares are seeking an individual to serve as on-air broadcaster for over 50 home games combined that is streamed live on the Northwoods League+ and ESPN+. This individual will serve as the voice of the Mallards and Night Mares by appearing on-screen in pre-game shows, live on-air during games and serving in a variety of other social media videos. Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the play-by-play broadcaster for over 50 home games between the Madison Mallards and Night Mares.
- Write Post-game recaps for publication on the Madison Mallards and Night Mares website.
- Work closely with the marketing department and production department to produce captivating player content for Mallards social media
- Work closely with the Marketing Director and Corporate Partnerships Manager to include all sponsor and promotional live reads in game
- Coordinate with broadcast team to product pre game shows for live broadcast
- Strive to win league awards such as Video Production Team of the Year, Best Game Coverage, and Announcer of the Year
- Research current players to come up with storylines to be talked about live on air during the game
- Have up to date stat sheets to be used during the game
- Create Reports for each of the Mallards & Night Mares home games
- Setup, breakdown, and maintaining of video production equipment
- Work with Creative Media Manager/Marketing Director to produce relevant and interesting content on a weekly basis
- Plan, execute and upkeep consistent media day strategy for players as they join the team including, but not limited to:
- Player headshots
- Hype video b-roll
- Lineup card video/photos for social media and video board use
- Actively research/stay on top of internet trends relevant to our team/target audience
- Attend scheduled Sports Business classes, produced for the benefit of the Intern class.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Experience with video editing and software
- Previous broadcasting experience
- Must be a creative thinker with the ability to think of new, fun ideas to improve the fan experience through video
- A general understanding of baseball and softball
- Ability to problem solve on the fly
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be well organized and detail oriented
- A computer for webcast production that has necessary webcast and editing software will be provided
About the Madison Mallards & Madison Night Mares:
The Mallards are one of the largest and most successful summer collegiate baseball teams in the nation attracting more than 200,000 fans each summer. The Night Mares debuted in 2024 as an inaugural Northwoods League Softball team. In just one year, they became the highest attended summer collegiate softball team and look to continue to grow in year two. The Mallards & Night Mares annually hire more than 20 intern positions for the season, who may also have the opportunity to gain experience at other Madison based teams & events throughout the summer. Many of our full-time staff completed an internship or seasonal position with us prior to their full-time employment. Former interns have gone on to work for the Carolina Panthers, Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Green Bay Packers, and various minor league and summer collegiate league teams across the nation.
