An entry-level position providing hands-on experience in collegiate summer baseball. Join the Lakeshore Chinooks for the summer to gain a behind-the-scenes experience like no other. You'll learn the ins and outs of a sports organization within the Northwoods League, while playing a vital role in both baseball operations and on-field coaching.
As a Baseball Operations & Coaching Intern, you will take on a unique hybrid role—assisting with equipment, clubhouse management, and player logistics, while also serving as an assistant coach in the dugout during home games. You will oversee the baseball operations intern team, ensuring smooth execution of daily tasks, and work directly with coaches and players to support team needs. This dual-role internship provides the rare opportunity to gain both front-office operations experience and on-field coaching exposure within a competitive summer baseball environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Baseball Operations
- Lead, delegate, and oversee the Baseball Operations Intern team in completing daily tasks
- Meet with and assist umpires prior to each game
- Coordinate player check-in and check-out processes
- Manage and track inventory of equipment, including jerseys, bats, and balls
- Maintain clubhouse cleanliness and handle player laundry when assigned
- Support players and coaches with gear changes or equipment needs during games
Coaching
- Serve as an assistant coach in the dugout during all home games
- Provide direct support to the coaching staff and players during games
- Assist with baseball-related projects, drills, or scouting assignments as directed by the head coach
- Contribute to fostering a positive, professional, and competitive team environment
REQUIREMENTS
- Attend stadium set up & take down prior to and following the season
- Quality and accuracy of work
- Must be available for all Chinooks home games (not a traveling position)
- Completion of assigned tasks on schedule
- Strong knowledge of baseball, including rules, operations, and coaching fundamentals
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage equipment and intern staff
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Enthusiasm for supporting players, coaches, and umpires at the highest level
- Must be able to lift 40+ pounds
- Conformance to company personnel, safety, quality, and housekeeping policies, procedures, and practices
- Comfortable interacting with players, coaches, umpires, and front office staff
