Reports to: President (Kzoo Soccer) and Director of Marketing
Status: Full-time, entry-level
Location: Kalamazoo, MI | Expected start: October 2026
About the Role
We are bringing a brand-new soccer club to Kalamazoo for 2027, with a men’s team in USL League Two and a women’s team in the USL W League. We are building it from the ground up, which makes this a rare chance to help shape a club’s voice and community from day one.
This is a ground-floor content role. You will be the primary content driver helping bring the club to life across both teams, working day-to-day with an experienced Director of Marketing and directly with the club President. You will not be pushing generic copy. You will build the club’s voice, tell its stories, and help grow the audience and the fan database that the whole club runs on.
What You’ll Do
Content, social & storytelling
- Be the primary content driver across men’s (USL League Two) and women’s (USL W League) sides, telling club, player, and community stories
- Film and edit short-form video (Reels, TikToks, Shorts), design graphics and carousels, and write social copy that sounds like the community, not corporate
- Own the content calendar, publish on time, manage the channels, and engage with comments and DMs
Database, email & campaigns
- Keep the first-party database clean and growing: ZIP and market-tier tagging, list hygiene, and consent handling (the club’s core asset)
- Help run email sends and campaign follow-ups, and produce assets for launch and ticketing pushes (identity reveal, Founding Member launch, memberships and groups)
- Support landing-page updates and basic tracking (UTMs, simple analytics)
Sponsor content, comms & matchday
- Produce and deliver contracted sponsor content and activation assets on time. These are contractual commitments, not optional extras
- Draft clear press releases, media updates, and e-newsletters for club news, signings, and events
- Run matchday content capture: pre-match build, live capture, and post-match highlights and recap
Reporting & collaboration
- Track performance (reach, engagement, video, database and campaign growth) and deliver simple, regular reports
- Work with Ticket Sales, Sponsorship, and Operations so content supports club goals
What Success Looks Like
- Content publishes on time, every time, and the channels feel fresh and alive
- Storytelling that makes people feel something and sounds like the community, not corporate copy
- Reach, engagement, database growth, and lead and ticket conversions climb steadily
- Sponsor deliverables always land on time
- The database stays clean and keeps growing
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Can shoot and edit compelling short-form video (phone-first is fine)
- Strong visual instincts and a good eye for a story
- Organized and reliable: hits deadlines, tracks work, and never drops a commitment
- A fast learner who creates consistently and improves every day
- Comfortable working daily in Google Workspace
- Discreet with pre-launch and confidential club information
Preferred
- A genuine love of soccer and of bringing a community together
- Editing and design tools (CapCut, Premiere Pro, Canva, Photoshop)
- Scheduling tools (Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Buffer) and task tools (Asana, Monday)
- Basic reporting and analytics comfort
- Local Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan, or campus ties
Nice to have, trainable
- Email platform, CRM, light paid social, landing pages, soccer context, and the club’s brand system
Not required: a marketing degree, a large follower count, or agency experience. Portfolio, work ethic, and judgment matter most. (High school diploma required; a relevant degree is a plus.) Please be ready to share sample work: edits, social accounts, or writing.
How This Role Fits and Grows
Reporting: you report to the President (Kzoo Soccer, LLC) for club direction and to the Director of Marketing for day-to-day craft and creative, under a shared-services arrangement.
Where it is headed: this is the entry rung of the club’s marketing function. The strategy layer (the marketing plan, database growth strategy, paid media, campaign architecture, and KPI ownership) is held by the President and Director for now. As you grow, the path is Coordinator → Manager, Marketing & Content, taking on that strategy layer over time.
What earns the move to Manager
- Consistent on-time content and sponsor deliverables
- Measurable database and engagement growth
- Demonstrated ownership and sound judgment
- Ability to plan campaigns and own KPIs
- Readiness to run paid media and eventually guide a content assistant
Reviewed around the end of the first season.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive entry-level salary
- Health, dental, and vision
- 401(k) with match
- Paid time off
- Gym membership
- Monthly team socials and group outings
Logistics
- Full-time, based in Kalamazoo, MI
- Flexible hours including match days, event nights, and weekends
- Expected start: October 2026
