Who We Are

Northwoods League Softball enters its third season in 2026, continuing to build a league that is Experience Obsessed and focused on providing unforgettable summer entertainment. Grand Forks will proudly join the league that year, with its inaugural team playing at the brand-new Albrecht Field on the University of North Dakota campus.

Albrecht Field, which opened in 2024, is a premier facility featuring over 500 seats, a turf playing surface, a party deck, and a videoboard. With aviation-themed design elements and modern amenities, it reflects the city’s identity and creates a fan experience rooted in Positive Energy and community pride.

Grand Forks Softball will bring Innovation to the local sports scene as it joins the Northwoods Softball League (NWLS)—the first for-profit collegiate fastpitch softball league in the country. The team’s arrival in 2026 will mark a major milestone for the community and give fans a new summer tradition to rally behind.

The Northwoods League is the proven leader in collegiate baseball development. Now in its 32nd season, it is the largest organized summer baseball league in the world, with 25 teams and more than 300 alumni reaching Major League Baseball. Stars like Curtis Granderson, Max Scherzer, Ben Zobrist, Brandon Crawford, and Chris Sale have all passed through Northwoods League dugouts.

This success extends into softball. Launched in 2024, the NWLS delivers the same professional-caliber experience to elite collegiate fastpitch players. Fans enjoy creative promotions, high-level competition, and affordable family fun—all delivered with EPIC energy.
